Arsenal where back into WSL action today, following their 5-1 win over Lyon (blog linked below) the gunners where back out against Matt Beards Liverpool , who now sit 9 th in the table following the defeat.
Both of the goals scored came in the first half- Liverpools quality improved in the second half, and despite bringing on 120-goal scorer Vivianna Miedema (more on that in a separate post) they could not break down the reds defense in the second half.
Their was a penalty shout for Liverpool, however the WSL does not have VAR so the referees on pitch decision remained. Liverpool manager, Matt Beard, said it was a 'clear penalty' and that it could have 'changed the game'. Beard also said that 'We (Liverpool) have had a tough start to the season'
Arsenal claimed their 10th clean sheet in the WSL , (spanning over 2 seasons) which is a WSL record, the previous record being 8 games.
Arsenal now go up to top of the table - with equal points and goal difference to Manchester United.
