SIGNINGS PT.1 - Russo, Patten, Hampton

Okay, so this blog is going to be a (semi!!!!!) LONGGGGG one. But firstly, I want to welcome everyone back!

This blog is long overdue so to make up for the lack of content here is a blog!

So, let's start of with the signings because their has been a few! Starting straight in their with ,probably, the biggest - Alessia Russo to Arsenal.

Russo's move to the gunners was ,perhaps, not unexpected as it had been in the pipeline for quite a while. The gunners initially bid for her in a record transfer bid back in January window. The bid -if it had gone through- would have been the biggest transfer ever in the history of women's football , exceeding the fee Barcelona payed for Keira Walsh from Manchester City. But, the entire bid felt rushed, and even rumors that Arsenal had added their own striker , Stina Blackstenius into the deal.

However, the gunners have managed to bag Russo on a free deal. United wanted Russo to extend her contract at the club, but after reported conversations between the two clubs, when the red (side of Manchester) offered the deal Russo wanted , her move to Arsenal was set in stone.

It is reported that Russo will be the highest paid player in the WSL, overtaking Chelsea's star striker Sam Kerr.

So, what contribution will Russo be able to add to Arsenal next season? And how will this leave Arsenal's starting 11 attacking line next season?

Hannah Hampton to Chelsea

Perhaps this move wasn't unexpected, because as similar with Russo's it had been rumored for a little while.

Hampton's move to Chelsea , although, is perhaps a confusing one.

The blue's are now set to have 3 goal keepers who have played regually last season. (Hampton being number 1 for Aston Villa , but Ann-Katrin Berger and Zecira Musovic shared Chelsea's number 1 spot last season -although Berger did play the majority of the fixtures. They also have 2 other first team keepers, Emily Orman and Nicky Evrard)

Anna Patten

Patten is a product of the Arsenal academy, but has spent the last season (and the further half of the season prior last) away on loan at Aston Villa after struggling to get any consistent game time for the club.

Her contract with the gunners ended this summer, and it made perfect sense for her to go on a permanent move to Villa. Patten proved to be consistent under Carla Ward's side during her loan spells, so hopefully she will be able to continue this.

Arsenal fans will miss 'Patsy' for her bubbly personality and all-round-loveliness.

Final editors note- I am glad to be back posting , so please hold on tight now that summer starts next week I will have lot's more time to post.

Come on lionesses ! Let's go win it down under!
